You can query this database to learn about files on your sys- tem, or see which software packages are available for use. NOTE: You must be logged in as root to manage software packages. The package management system allows you to: • Search for installed packages or discover which package a file is part of. • View installed packages in functional groups • View descriptive information about any package, including a list of all files that are part of that package • Uninstall packages • Install new packages
